It is hard to believe that the year 2022 has nearly come to an end.

For many of us, New Year’s is a time of reflection and introspection, of feelings of nostalgia for the year that has just passed and a look back at all of the memories we made, lessons we learned, and all of ways that we experienced life, both the joyful and difficult over the past 365 days.

And this year, I feel like this is even more true given how much has been happening not only on the world stage, but in our cities, towns, and communities as we all collectively have been asked – no, pushed and pulled toward a new level of awareness and grappling with the change that inevitably has to come from that shift.

And, on top of that – Mercury just turned retrograde today, a time when the planet of communication invites us (or forces us if we resist!) to stop, take a moment and pause and reflect before we make decisions about where to go moving forward.

This idea of looking back, to see where you have been, the paths you have already walked, and how you have changed, grown, and evolved over time is the basis of the work that I do helping people uncover memories from their past lives.

There is wisdom to be gained by looking back at the past, and specifically taking the time to reflect on what has already happened before you take any more steps to move forward.

But it is important to remember that we must also look back at what has happened to us before, in this life – our childhood, early years, young adulthood, or beyond that into our maturity (if you have reached that point yet!).

Even though I generally don’t follow the Solar calendar as much as the Lunar, and much prefer to choose important dates or moments for intention setting by New and Full Moons, there is something powerful about the moment when we mark the end of our calendar year and the opportunity it creates to look back and reflect on 2022 before we enter 2023, the brand-new year to come.

Before you move ahead, it is wise to look back and reflect on the past – when you know where you have been, you can better decide where you want to be going.
