Today is the advent of the equinox, a moment in time when the sun shines on the equator and the northern and southern hemispheres both receive an equal amount of light

The equinox is a celestial event that happens twice a year and serves to remind all of us here on planet earth of our connection to nature and its’ ever-turning cycles – and, that there can be balance, equal parts, fairness, justice, and equality that does exist in the world, quite naturally.

This moment has long been seen as a turning point, that the light that has been dwindling or growing since the summer or winter solstice has reached the moment where there exists light and dark in equal parts.

It is also the first day of Libra season, the astrological sign that is about justice, fairness, balance, and finding partnerships (of all types) that feature harmony, equality, mutual respect, and true love.

And so, without needing to reiterate all of the things we are dealing with in the world today that are unjust, unequal, unfair, cruel, hate-filled, and bring suffering to the world – instead I would like to invite you to use the energy of today as a bit of a reflection or meditation.

On a day that is naturally balanced – where am I out of balance?

How can I bring more balance into my life?

On a day that features equality – how can I work to create a world that features more equality?

And how can I help spread the concept of equality to those around me- in my family, my community, my city, state, country?

Where can I bring justice where there has been injustice?

Fairness to that which has been unfair?

And today, on a day that nature brings us harmony, how can I live in better harmony with myself, with others, and with all living things?

And may this moment of nature’s justice and equality be the turning point that we so desperately need today here on planet earth.
