The past is not in the past.

The events that have happened before, both on a personal level by way of our own past lives, as well as our collective history as a society are playing out again and repeating themselves right now, today.

Yes, it is true that there are many things about life today that are much different than they have been in the past.

We have access to technology that allows us to communicate, connect, travel, learn, experience, heal our bodies, and feed our minds in so many incredible ways that are unprecedented here on planet earth.

But yet, many of the issues we are facing today are not new at all and are a product of who we are as human beings and how we are learning, growing, and evolving here on planet earth.

I believe that we reincarnate in order to learn and that life is like a school.

And because we are beings who learn by doing, we are being challenged by way of lessons we are presented with that are opportunities to learn and grow.

These lessons are about learning to overcome our basest nature and lowest instincts as a species and rise and evolve into better, more compassionate, and loving beings.

We are here to learn that we are all connected through our shared humanity, that any of our differences are only skin deep, and that who we are – who we truly are – are souls, currently in bodies, who are on the same journey over many lifetimes.

But these lessons are difficult and deep, and as much as we learn and as far as we have come, we are still struggling with these lower vibrational energies such as greed, hate, mistrust, anger, bias, prejudice, the need to have control and power over others, and much more.

And these energies become behaviors and actions such as cruelty, domination, violence, racism, discrimination, and war.

None of this is new, these are the lessons that we have been presented with for thousands of years and hundreds of past lives.

And one of the tactics of those who would not have us evolve and bring change to the systems that are in place that are keeping us stuck in these patterns of hatred and away from unity and love is to avoid allowing us to look at the past and tell the truth about our history.

Our history is our truth and reveals our flaws and mistakes, the wrongs we have done in the past and where we have failed to achieve the level of evolution that our souls are capable of reaching in any particular lifetime.

And this is true for both our history as a species, nations or countries, and communities, as well as our own lived experiences in our past lives.

When we can examine our history, where we have been before, we are giving context and meaning to our journey so far.

History and our own past lives can allow us to feel empathy for both ourselves and others who we had failed to recognize in the full truth of who they are – true equals who are also souls on the same journey that we are on.

And once we can see the truth of our past, we can use the insight that past has given us as a tool to create change today, as well as a new future that features more positive growth, healing, compassion, and love for all beings, everywhere.
